♦ The Boys Varsity Soccer team beat River in a stunning come from behind win to advance to State. Down 0-2 with 20 minutes left in the game Anthony Carlson took a brilliant pass from Matthew Dally and placed a great shot passed the sprawled out River Keeper. Matthew Dally then slammed home the equalizer on a cross 8 minutes later from a ball whipped through the 18 yard box by Caleb Escobedo. Tied after regulation the game went into sudden death overtime. In the first minute of the second overtime, John Paul Dally intercepted a pass and pressed up the middle of the field and hit a fantastic 25 yard drive that pierced the back of the net. Fans erupted, some wept, Bay players poured onto the field and celebrated their valiant victory. Onward and upward, Bay plays this Saturday in the state tournament location and opponent yet to be determined.

♦ Congratulations to Lacey Fowler, a literacy teacher at Hudson's Bay.  Ms. Fowler has been chosen as the April employee of the month.  Several students nominated her. According to one of the students, Ivan Vukovic (VOO-ko-vick), Ms. Fowler "teaches in a captivating way that really makes students focus in and get absorbed into their studies."  Another student, Sean Davila, says Ms. Fowler "knows how to relate well to students. She has a great sense of humor and can be a friend to her students while still having their respect."

Ms. Fowler will receive a certificate of achievement for her portfolio.  Also, she will get some prizes from the Eagle Recognition Program.

JUNIORS:  If you plan to apply to a four-year college or university next year, you should take the SAT and / or the ACT this spring. Do NOT wait until grade twelve to take ACT and/or SAT for the first time!  There is only one more time to take these exams before summer vacation. May ninth is the regular-fee deadline to register to take the last ACT of this school year.  If you want to take the last SAT of this school year, you have until May fifteenth to register. But, at this point, you will be charged a late registration fee for SAT. The Career Center has SAT and ACT registration materials and study guides.

♦ Attention, seniors who will attend any campus of Washington State University in the fall!  You and your family are invited to an event called "Cougar Welcome." It will be on Tuesday, May thirteenth, from seven to eight thirty p.m. at the WSU Vancouver campus. The Career Center has information about how you may register if you plan to attend.
