After winning a state championship in March, Hudson’s Bay High School’s Future Farmers of America team earned a bronze emblem in the National FFA Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event held in October in Indianapolis, Indiana. Bay’s team competed against 41 other state champion programs from across the nation, and team members (pictured from left) Rikiann Claypoole, Rhianna Bohn, Caitlyn Hansen and Natalie Kline all earned silver emblems. The National FFA Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event tests knowledge and skills in nursery practices and landscaping. Participants must complete a general knowledge exam testing horticultural principles including plant anatomy, production, marketing, turf, landscape design and maintenance. Each participant must also complete practicums involving a landscape estimating, plant propagation or potting, identification of plants, disorders and equipment.
