Routine radon testing was completed at Hudson’s Bay High School, Lincoln Elementary and Vancouver School of Arts and Academics on March 4, 2019.

Radon is measured and reported in picocuries per liters of air (pCi/L). The U.S. EPA action level is greater than or equal to 4.0 pCi/L. The U.S. EPA recommends reducing the concentration of radon in indoor environments below the radon action level.

Initial results indicate elevated levels in one or more rooms:

We took immediate steps to improve ventilation in the affected areas at Bay and Lincoln and have since retested. Those results came back on Monday, March 25, with levels below the action level.

We are taking steps to improve ventilation in the affected room at VSAA and will retest when the work is completed in the next two to three weeks. Families and staff will be notified of the results after retesting.
