This day will focus on a registered apprenticeship. In the morning, participants will learn about apprenticeships, training
details, and learn how to apply. The afternoon session will highlight apprentices in the construction industry.

Are you interested in what it is like to work on a construction site, or curious about exactly what an apprentice does? Hear from
current apprentices as they share their experiences on the job site and in an apprenticeship training program.
Want to get an start early on a career in construction? The BayACES program at Hudson’s Bay High School offers a sequence of courses in the building trades that lead to industry certification and preferred status with Northwest Laborers Employers Training Trust (apprenticeship opportunities). Magnet applications for BayACES open in January. Eagles (Bay students) can also see their counselors about getting into a Construction Trades course.
Other ways to learn more about the skilled trades is by joining SkillsUSA. This is an after-school Career & Technical Student Organization offered at our high schools. Participation improves the quality of America’s skilled workforce through a structured program of:

- Leadership
- Employability
- Technical and professional skills training
SkillsUSA students compete in regional to national competitions in their program area (video, culinary, construction…and much more)!
